Innehåll
The course introduces the Bible within the context of theology, from the outset of Jewish and Early Christian interpretations. Eastern Christianity continued to develop in close proximity with the emergent rabbinic Judaism, which had a decisive impact on biblical interpretation. Christianity developed its own trait of interpretations but often in direct opposition or continuing Jewish interpretations. Later on a similar situation appears in relation to Islam.
Efter kursen förväntas studenten:
• be able to identify and understand the connections between Jewish, Christian and Muslim interpretations
• display considerable insight in understanding how the idea of Scripture developed within Christianity and its interpretation
• demonstrate competence in using methods for describing a biblical theology in relation to the emergent Christianity
• reflect critically on the variety of biblical interpretations.
